Natural Disaster In Pakistan
An earthquake happened in Pakistan Kashmir's main city, Muzaffarabad on the 8th of October, 2005. This earthquake was the strongest earthquake which happened in Pakistan during the last hundred years. The magnitude of the earthquake was 7.6. Reports have indicated that the earthquake had killed more than 82,000 people. As thousands of houses were destroyed, more than 3.3 million of people were left either injured or homeless. Muzaffarabad was affected the most with half of its homes being destroyed.

The earthquake happened due to the destructive tectonic plate boundaries. The Indian plate hit the Eurasian plate which caused this massive earthquake. The Pakistan government rebuilds houses and buildings. They had to pick safe spots where rebuilding could take place. The government also send troops to check if there are any citizens who are stuck under the damage buildings.

When the government introduces law for building houses in the country, they should state that it should be earthquake proof. So when earthquakes strike the country, the houses would have more resistance to the earthquake and fewer damages would occur and it would probably reduce the chances of injured and dead people. Government must form an earthquake task force to educate the people to be aware of what to do when an earthquake strikes. People must also be aware of the signs of an earthquake arrival and move to a safe location instead of being buried in the collapse houses. The government should build safe locations in every district so that the citizens can get to safe locations faster and easier. Government must also install sirens in all locations and activate the sirens to inform the citizens of the impending arrival of earthquakes. The schools should also have earthquake drills so that the students would know how to respond when an earthquake happens.
